To most people a red carpet is glamourous, exciting and cool. It's everywhere they want to be.  Celebrities they idolize, dresses they scrutinize and speeches they memorize.

In actuality there is very little that is glamourous about a red carpet. For the talent, publicists, journalists, photographers, security guards and most others there, it's work. It's crowded, stuffy and not "cool" at all, in fact most of the time it's about 100 degrees, literally.

Don't get me wrong, most of us enjoy our jobs. I love a chance to catch up with old friends that I only see at special events... but really, the entire time I'm on a red carpet I'm secretly daydreaming of my favorite time of day.

The moment when I get home and I can unzip the dress, take off the annoying strapless bra, kick off the "just a little too high" heels and breathe! All the gold statues in the world don't compare to the feeling of freedom I have at that moment. It's incredible!
