ELECTRIC LOSS MUSIC VIDEO TREATMENT working with Robo J’s Radio Edit V3 -

ADAPTED from Metaphorest's narrative:

NOTES: All shots adhere to the flat style suggested by Marke and are dynamic with moving neon geometric backgrounds and shapes suggesting buildings/roads rather than entirely realistic depictions. The colour scheme and style should also adhere as closely as possible to Mukei Royalities original images. Although we mention a male character we feel like the viewer shouldn’t see too much of him, but instead see the story play out through his eyes with POV shots? For example when he blinks - imagine that being a fade to black and back rather than actually seeing his eyes blink. And when he’s driving imagine us looking over the windshield/bonnet of his convertible to the scene beyond.

Opening - No Music: (No longer than 5 seconds)

  • Starts with a guy sitting in a nighthawks style diner in a nighttime cityscape. All dull colours – shades of grey…

00:00 - 00:08(4 bars of beat intro)

  • a neon billboard blasts into life opposite the diner starring the song’s femme fatale.

  • The guy is immediately mesmerized by the model in the billboard.

  • She winks at him, acting flirtatious

00:08 - 00:15 (BEAT 1)

  • She blows him a kiss. (right as the bassline drops in)

  • The kiss floats across the air and hits him, turning him and the world around him to full luminous colour.

  • The model in the billboard beckons him outside.

00:15 - 00:39  (VERSE 1)

  • He drives along a city street, following as the model’s image moves from one billboard to the next. Just as he reaches one, she disappears from it and appears on the next one, beckoning him to keep chase.

  • We focus on each billboard as he passes, each showing a little vignette of the love interest. Perhaps some of the billboards are set up to look like ads but with products based on the text of the song lyrics. Maybe Electric Love is a perfume? Maybe Love Lies is a steamy romance novel?

00:39 - 00:46

  • We arrive and zoom into a final billboard where she reappears and becomes flirtatious and animated

00:46 - 01:04  (CHORUS 1)

  • In that retro/psychedelic space, we see our model/love interest walk along the top of a sort of neon sign version of the words 'Electric Love Electric Loss' on an eighties style disco floor of glowing squares.

01:04 - 01:11 (BEAT 2)

  • At the chorus he comes to a dead end. He looks back to see the lyrics of the chorus now flashing up on the rows of billboards behind him.

01:11 - 01:28 (1/2 of VERSE 2)

  • A TV in a nearby shop window flickers into life – the model appears on the screen.

  • Her image fills all the TV screens in the window.

  • The screens individually turn on and off in time to the music, sometimes showing her face, other times showing the lyrics.

01:28 - 01:36 (2/2 of VERSE 2)

  • Then all the screens turn off.

  • He looks around to find her.

  • Tilt up past skyscrapers to reveal: her larger than life image projected into the night sky.

01:36 - 01:50

  • Neon blocks appear one by one in front of him like steps.

  • He walks up towards her image.

  • The closer he gets, the more faded her image becomes.

  • When he finally reaches her she disappears, and so do the steps – they pixelate and break apart.

01:50 - 02:00 (CHORUS 2)

  • As our guy falls - in the sky where her face once was - The words 'Electric Love Electric Loss' on an eighties style disco floor of glowing squares project.

02:00 - 02:16 (BREAK)

  • He falls to the ground in a neon blur.

  • When he wakes, through blurry eyes and stars, he sees her face above him, not an image but the real model. She smiles. (This happens on the Whispered words “Wake Up”)

  • He blinks and she’s gone again.

02:16 - 02:32 (VERSE 3)

  • As he sadly drives home, he passes billboards where the model appears with a male model, no longer looking in his direction but at her new ‘love’.

  • Our guy drives off into the sunrise alone.

02:32 - 02:45

  • we see our poor chap back in his glum diner(Same color design as intro)

02:45 - 03:04 (CHORUS 3)

  • we zoom inside the original billboard opposite the diner.

  • In that retro/psychedelic space, we see our model/love interest walk along the top of a sort of neon sign version of the words 'Electric Love Electric Loss' on an eighties style disco floor of glowing squares.

  • When the chorus finally ends she sits on the final letter and winks and the neon sign powers down. (The wink hits on “Ha!”)

03:04 - 03:14 (OUTRO)

  • Then she blows us a kiss which grows the fill the whole frame (as if coming towards us).

03:14 - END
