And now a word regarding the anticipated contributor's profits for 2012 as well as an update for distributing the remaining profits from 2011...

RE: OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH LEVI'S®: Levi's® is going to be supporting hitRECord this season in a variety of ways: they will be spreading some of our records far and wide on the Internet, we're going to make a new work of art together, we'll be able to put on a bigger and better tour this fall while keeping the ticket prices low, and - the cherry on top - is that we'll be able to pay our contributing artists way more than we have before!


The estimated contributor's profit from our partnership with Levi's® will be $125,000.


And we are going to distribute these profits around to all of our productions in 2012. Basically, a portion of this $125,000 will be allocated to each production and added to the profits each production generates on its own.

While my goal here with hitRECord is not to maximize profits, it feels good to pay people for doing great work and making the art we love to make together!

    This is really exciting - it'll be awesome to partner with them! And thanks Joe for re-mentioning that hitRECord isn't about making profits. Sure it's a bonus, but if you're doing this because you want to get paid, then you're doing this for the wrong reason.

    Lidan makes a good point about PayPal charges. I'd like to hear about other alternatives for people that don't want checks sent to them. Maybe direct deposit?

    ah, but paypal still charges fees for money transfers even if you link it directly to your bank account. I think it's like 4%-5%? Something like that after it's all done.

    I didn't even cash my first cheque, I like the look of it more than the face value (the "yay! check from hitrecord!!!" value) pay pal seems like a good option though. Or else I would certanly take record store credit for small cheques.

    On a somewhat dull but pragmatic note, can I echo my fellow recorders' suggestions to perhaps use paypal,as an eco-friendly alternative to paying inflated international banking fees? *;*
