Now it's time to work on Issue #3 of THE HITRECORDERLY - our quarterly subscription series!

For the Autumn Issue we're gonna create works of art based on all of the live shows we've done over the past few years!

You can contribute your records to the collaboration here: http://www.hitrecord.org/records/907682

==

Here's what we're gonna make together:

* A Book featuring tons of Photos & Text from our Live Shows

* A Flash Drive that would include the Videos & Music we made together

==

Here's how you can contribute to this collaboration:

DID YOU ATTEND ONE OF OUR LIVE SHOWS?: If you came to any of our Live Shows, PLEASE UPLOAD ALL OF YOUR LIVE FOOTAGE to hitRECord now so the community can remix it!

VIDEO EDITORS: Go through all the great footage from our Live Shows & start cutting together new records - or refine remixes that are already in progress. Keep in mind these remixes don't have to stick just to the live setting - you can cut together all kinds of Audio & Video from hitRECord to make something entirely new that evokes that live moment.

CURATORS: Compile an Album of all your favorite Live Moments that you think we should remix & contribute it to the collab.

The Live Shows have always been something I've really loved about hitRECord & it'd be great to get this 3rd issue completed in time for upcoming Live Shows so we can sell it there!

Thanks Again!

    I'm just now seeing this! Not sure if you are still needing editors on this but I actually have started making a video of the live shows bc of a project I am working on for the fav things (mine being live theater!)

    I haven't finished it yet, but if you are still needing some edited footage I can contribute parts of my project I'm working on ;)

    A little late. But may I contribute? A song I made? Perhaps? Maybe?

    Are we still doing this or has this been delayed by/to include the current tour?

    Is the 3rd issue a combo of live musical album? movie / music video album? similar to the recollection? I've been trying to wrap my head around as to what it's going to be.

    I was thinking of that, but I also thought it'd be cool if we got HitRECord stickers--that way we can design the USBs ourselves. I think that'd be cool. I definetly like those USBs Kubi. Fun stuff. Also theres different kinds of casings for USBs--maybe theres like 10 different designs, with like 4 different colors so you have a chance to be 1 of XXXX number of people getting a specific kind of USB?

    Ok, I'm done going nuts here.

    it would be cool if the usb sticks had some kind of unique HR design aspect to them, like what the White Stripes did - http://productshopnyc.com/htdocs/white%20stripes%20usb.JPG

    $5k for dvd w/ menu, that's the cheapest I've ever heard! I'm glad we're not working on film these days. that distribution cost would be 20 times the ammount of working digitally.

    I think the usb drive is the best way to go about it personally. You can make something like a dvd menu but isn't really a dvd menu if you have a Flash UI Designer / Programmer, but it's still going to cost you. I've even done it before and it's not an easy thing to do.

    I wouldn't want to have something streaming because this site already does it.

    Ha! We actually thought a cool HITRECORD key drive would compliment the book pretty nicely. Because then you can reuse it for your own personal needs.

    Actually a lot of factors played in to this decision.

    THE FACTORS:

    We have a budget of $10,000 for producing each issue of the hitRECorderly subscription series.

    To master a DVD with menus costs $5,000 alone - that's WITHOUT even printing one DVD.

    (Believe it or not, relative to other things, vinyl just happens to be damn cheap to manufacture. Who knew? I sure didn't.)

    More importantly, we work with digital media, for video specifically that means square pixels. SD DVDs are based on broadcast technology, which uses rectangle pixels. Do you know what a bummer it is to take hitRECord video and convert them to a anamorphic sequence and convert the pixels to rectangle? This opens a WHOLE CAN OF WORMS that deteriorates the quality of our videos. And since it's a SD DVD (as oppose to an HD Blu-Ray), we need to convert all frame rates to 29.97. In doing so, interlacing runs rampid, pixelation gets boosted and audio sync slides because at the end of the day, we are not working with pure and preserved frame rates on hitRECord.

    Therefore, the truth is, the best quality format to view a hitRECord video is digitally on one's computer.

    Also what's funny, is in the Announcement Video above, Joe actually said that he feels DVDs are becoming a bit passé when discussing why a key drive (I edited it out for length). And I kinda see his point. I mean everyone I know owns a computer that contains both a DVD player and a USB port, even my mom and dad. But I know a gang of people who don't own a individual DVD player, including myself. And we gotta think about who or audience is too. I'm pretty confident that most of them will have a computer with a USB port.

    And also, putting this on NETFLIX is a good idea, but that's means hiring a distribution company and when according to the analytics on how well RECollection did on NETFLIX, it doesn't really make sense for now.

    Plus - we hope to include some of the live music in this issue which can easily go on a drive a long with the videos.

    So with ALL of these factors, we actually thought a Key Drive is a cool artifact to own and one that addresses all the issues above. I mean it won't just sit on your shelf after you finished watching it, You can use it and work with it everyday if need be.

    Anyway, thank you for speaking up. We'd love to keep this dialogue open especially if we can keep it professional and constructive.

    And regarding the actual video production for this issue, hold on, we will be releasing a whole plan of attack shortly.

    Thanks!
