Bliss was always feeling sad.
Everyday I'd ask her, "What's the matter, Bliss?"
To which she would respond: "I'm just not feeling very Blissful today."
Which is understandable, I guess. We all have those days when we're feeling out of it. But it wasn't quite that, with Bliss. She never felt any other way.
So the 507th time I asked her and got the same response, I took it further. "But if you're not Bliss, then who are you?"
Apparently this wasn't the right thing to say, because she seemed to get even sadder. "I don't know, Curious. Stop asking."
She walked away, then. And I never did ask her again. But I never stopped thinking about it. How could I? That's not who I am.
But that never stopped Bliss.
