So you know how everyone lives in the present?
I don’t
I have to live in the past
And do you know how depressing that is
Live in the moment? Live for spontaneity? Impulse?
I have none of that
I live exactly 3 minutes and 38 seconds behind everyone
3 minutes and 38 seconds I hear you say that’s not so bad
Well that’s bullshit.
A lot can happen in 3 minutes and 38 seconds
People could die, watch a video, the telephone could be invented; man could land on mars, your girlfriend could tell you she’s pregnant.
Three minutes is the boundary between being asleep and awake. That’s the difference between two whole different worlds
to conclude three minutes is a lot of time to be left behind
can you imagine living three minutes later than everyone else? You get the joke last. Then you become the joke. You can never add anything interesting to the conversation because you hear the conversation from 3 minutes ago.
The present is for people who are fearless because to live in the present is to really live. You can’t witness the mistakes of others and learn, you make your own mistakes. People in the present do not know how brave they actually are. They can let go and move on. They can laugh and cry and dive headfirst in the future knowing that technically the future is the present. (Is that too far out? I’m not sure)
All I know is that sometimes I wish I had the courage or the means to somehow bring myself up to date. To not rely on the time lag as a safety net for my decisions.

But hey I guess it’s not all bad at least if all my friends decided to metaphorically jumped off that cliff, I know that I would have 3 minutes and 38 seconds to realise that I don’t really feel like joining them.
