The Metafictionist recorded a wonderful rendition of "The Hanging Tree", and I really think it could be built on and remixed into something fantastic.

The poem is very melancholy and slow, and Rainey's remix reflects this perfectly. Seldelaterre also recorded a wonderful version with multiple harmonies and a chorus of voices, which suits the theme and feel of the poem perfectly.

I think it would be wonderful to try and get as many voices singing along, gradually joining through each verse until we reach a big, choral finish.

My initial thoughts for the poem were "Appalachian"..simple, beautiful tunes with close harmonies, and the use of instruments (guitar, strings, esp. fiddles). Sel's remix has mae the tune more like a funeral dirge, and this works very well too.

So, here's what we're looking for:

SINGERS: Sing along with Rainey and Sel. Add harmonies, sing the tune, whatever you like!

MUSICIANS: We're looking to add some more depth with some instruments. We're thinking guitar, fiddles, cellos etc. but give us everything and anything that you feel suits the vibe.
