There was a time when I disliked the summer, and perhaps I still do. But what I do appreciate is the relaxed feeling that summer brings about, the urge to visit the beach and have campfires out in the woods, or night walks on abandoned roads long closed off fifty years past, now enshrouded within trees, while you stare up to admire the moon with the one you love. It is the heat that gets to me. I have always loved the cold and detested the sun, but there is a beauty to the summer just with all the other seasons. The days feel longer and the suns intensity can almost feel unbearable, but walking around in a parasol is always nice. Cold watermelon, freshly squeezed ice, cold melon juice with Malibu coconut rum, and delicious mango smoothies are only most enjoyable in the summer.

The summer is a time to collect your thoughts, but also a reminder that the middle of the year is finally here, and another year will soon be over shortly. I love the sounds of summer nights. There is a lovely tranquility that touches my heart. Summer cicadas come out in the night, and frogs croak if there’s a water source nearby. The summer is an excuse to feel a little lazy, to relax perhaps, and take time off from reality. I can never hate summer. I appreciate it for what it is. When you’re feeling lost, there’s always summer, an excuse to travel and temporarily escape and take part in the simple joys of life.
