As I lay in the grass I feel the sun on my skin, the heat flowing through my veins hitting every part of my body. My hair feels hot from the sun as it lays across my shoulders, the blonde curls glistening in the light. My eyes are closed but I can hear and feel everything around me. An ice cream van potters down the road behind the hill, it's jingle twinkling as if its filling the world with sweet music. Soon after I hear children's excited voices as they approach the van, playing with each other and making their sweet demands for ice cream. A person flies by me, the sound of their bike wheels fluttering like the beating of wings. The sun radiates through me and I sigh a huge and happy relief to feel my first summer for many years. With my eyes still closed I turn onto my side but suddenly I feel a chill spread across me, and the light becomes darker through my eyelids. I sit up and flick my eyes open, seeing the sun being covered by the darkest and angriest raincloud. A droplet falls across my face, and I know that the summer will not be returning anytime soon. Suddenly the heavens open, and the horizon is filled with heavy pounding raindrops. I climb to my feet and taking one last look at the raincloud and flee for the hill, knowing that the eternal darkness is coming.

My beautiful summer has disappeared and it's all my fault, it will never come back unless I stop this.
