Last night while I was working at the theater, there was a gunman at my neighbor theater. He shot at a helpless sold out crowd during the midnight showing of Dark Knight Rises... After I was informed as to what was going on, I paced around my building. Just thinking to myself that it could of been here...
While I was dealing with a teenager on drugs urinating on the stairs in a sold out theater, there was a real nightmare happening just a few miles away. It deeply saddens me to hear of this tragedy, especially it being so close to home. Inside I'm scared, nervous, and angry. I don't understand how someone could be so sick and have such a blatant disregard for human life. The movies should be a place where you can go to escape your everyday life and get lost inside the fantasies that play on the screen.
My heart goes to everyone affected by this tragedy. I hope that someday we can once again escape reality and get lost inside a movie, but at this point I just don't know... |

Damn, well said... It's an unfortunate part of our humanity that I don't think we'll ever understand - Obviously, a "fragile mind" with a sense of hopelessnes/despair but, married to such a premeditated, coordinated attack of the helpless & defenseless as a way to show their warped sense of control on life - this is something that happens way too frequently.
I am very saddened and my heart goes out to those people's families that are directly affected by these events.
