1. Who are you and what do you do? Im Sally, I live in Australia. I am a psychologist by trade, artist by heart. I am also a lover of rainy days and that feeling you get when you look up at the stars and realise how big the universe is. 2. What's the origin of your artist name? I’ve had a blog since I was about 13 years old and on one of them I would do a segment called “10 things I heart about…(insert person/object/etc). My artist name originated somewhere there. 3. What has been your biggest challenge with your art so far? Finding time. I am not particularly talented at any one thing but I believe in the process. I like drawing, painting, and remixing on photoshop. Art and music is just part of who I am. 4. Who or what is your biggest influence? My Aunty Margaret. She was not really my Aunty but she was a relation that I called ‘Aunty’. She was legally blind and would make these amazing artworks with paints, pastels, clay. She was best known for her traditional felting and her grand homestead. Whenever I would visit she would take me out to her artshed and she would give me free reign of her supplies and say “make a mess, just do what feels right”. When she passed she left me some of her artworks and a set of oil pastels that I treasure dearly. 5. What is your wildest story? I’m not a very ‘wild’ person I’m more spontaneous than wild. There have been a few moments in my life that I guess you could consider a wild experience: Age 15 travelling in the US by myself, it was New Year ’s Eve in San Francisco a homeless man sat on my lap outside Hard Rock Café; Dancing at a Rave during my early uni years completely sober being asked what ‘wicked drug’ I was on; Bored one night my friends and I took a handheld camera and drove out to see if we could get a glimpse of Russel Crowe’s wedding, the security stopped us at the gate so we interviewed all the media waiting outside; Travelling to Japan to visit a temple to say a few words for my stillborn twin. 6. What is the last book you read? Staring at the sun by Irvin Yalom 7. If you could be any character in fiction, who would you be? Totoro. 8. What couldn’t you live without? Music, pencils, paper and my friends. 9. What is your secret talent? Hmmm secret? I can wiggle my ears up and down. I also make plushie monsters when I have time. 10. Tell me about the last dream you remember having? I dreamt my friend had a daughter named Lola and she had big blue eyes, and crazy spiral hair. I was sitting on my lounge and the young girl about 3 years old runs in and gives me a hug, she started giggling when I asked her name. She said “I’m Lola silly.” 11. What are you craving right now? Coffee and some lovely pixies to magically write my uni work for me overnight. Anyone have any pixies? 12. What was the last song you fell in love with? The Suburbs by Mr. Little Jeans 13. Can you hula hoop? I can virtually hula hoop on wii fit does that count? 14. What do you like? Splashing colour paint everywhere. Diving off the concrete edge at clovelly. Snorkelling until the backs of my legs burn. Tricking gropers. Cloud gazing. Fish n chips. Sitting on the balcony listening to music. Owls. Writing my name in sand. Sketching on the bus. Smelling body lotions in the shops. Drinking iced coffee and having a picnic. Oh and I love cold mornings and hugs. 15. What do you dislike? Windy days and white chocolate. I'm not a milky bar kid. 16. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given? Be kind. Every person has some good in them if you are open to see it. 17. How and why did you start RECording? I honestly can’t remember. At the time the independence collab was happening. I really like being around inspiring people…I cherish things that can keep me creative and I fell in love with the HitRECord community for this reason. |
