In the beginning, it was just a single bright light in the sky.
Thinking it was a star, we didn't pay much attention. Someone mentioned that the light seemed to be a little lower in the sky every night. We all scoffed at him. Stars don't descend.
But the light was descending. Although I didn't admit it to anyone, I had noticed it too.
Then one night, the light disappeared. I didn't know that a star could just vanish like that.
It returned a few weeks later.
It was like seeing an old friend after years. We were so happy, we waved out to the light. And then, two more lights joined our friend in the sky, one on each side.
We were amazed. Could stars just appear like that? We were even more amazed when the three lights started chasing each other through the night sky as if playing a heavenly game of cat and mouse. We were all cheering and clapping our hands, thoroughly enjoying the show.
But our glee soon turned to horror.
The three lights stopped their game and started descending towards us at great speed. Screaming, we ran for safety as the three lights plunged towards the ground.
These were not stars..... |
