Starry eyed, full of cheer, and quick to jump at any challenge, Madelynn was a child blessed with what many others would consider a gift. When Madelynn’s mother kissed her goodnight, when her father congratulated her on her latest pony race, or when the school bullies threw rocks at Madelynn from the playground, Madelynn was gifted to feel nothing. She felt no love from her mother, no admiration from her father, and no hatred from her foes. She was a not a contrite child and did not hate any of her school mates nor did she revel in her parent’s love. She simply had no heart. It was not until the moon of Madelynn’s twelfth birthday that she began to feel a small yearning in her breast. It was not an emotion that plagued her, but more of a curious longing—the way a perfect form shapes itself in the mind of a sculptor. She sought for a new beginning. *********************** my oh my. this is quite fun challenge. i love the idea of exercising our writing brains. thanks so much, tori, for this wonderful gift! <3 |
