I've had the idea of writing a poem about a city full of energy for awhile, so thank you Metaphorest for your colored city creation which pushed me to inspiration.
Cities feel different There's a current running through them An electrified wire that connects Every streetlamp with every skyscraper It surges up through the soles of your shoes Snaking alongside every crack in the pavement A neverending house party Where the speakers vibrate the very fabric of your jeans Instilling the rhythm into your body The air you breathe buzzes with vibrant anticipation I hope I get this job. Did she just wink at me? Look Mom a butterfly! I'll have that office one day. Best concert of all time! Will you marry me? Sights and sounds moving too fast to identify Colors blur together in a hum; a whirring gyroscope Lines extend against buildings, reaching as arms towards the sky Sound waves engulf you, wrapping you in a thick blanket of music: melodic, harmonic, and purely sonic A buzzing electricity A kinetic energy The city and all its creations glow with excitement |
