Mni-REview: Show and Tell Preview by Gweninterrupted

Show and Tell is shaping up to be a very cool series, with enormous potential. Fundamentally, I see this showcase series as a celebration of RECords, and of HitRECord.

This is quite a large and ambitious project, compared to anything I have seen on HitRECord before. At first, I had no idea that these five clips are not even all of just Episode 1. Nevertheless, it's off to a great start. Now I really look forward to seeing the rest.

Hosts Topher and Serenity have a great onscreen chemistry, and give the series a center and continuity. This approaches the sort of thing that might have been on MTV way back in the day - back when they did actual videos and VJ's, or on something like the MTV Movie Awards.

Cool, consistent titling and opening sequence also add to the sense of wholeness and integration, which is vital for this sort of anthology series.

The RECord selections are top notch. [And of course I have to Heart Gwen for including the "Faerie Realms" collab.]

I think this series has great potential to help bring notice to underappreciated RECords. I might suggest a segment called something like "Undiscovered Gems".

A few other suggestions occur to me that I would like to offer for this segment. First, perhaps consider grouping RECords more thematically rather than by RECord type. This would give an even more integrated feel to the segment. Second, I would love to see more personal involvement of the hosts with the RECords (like Topher's poetry REading) - they have such great presence, I think it would be cool to hear them introduce the RECords and the themes, using that same witty banter.

A couple of other segment ideas, perhaps for future episodes: since this series is really a celebration of RECords, I think it would synergize well with the idea of RECord REviews. Perhaps a regular segment devoted to REviews.

Another possible segment could be for those special behind-the-scenes "making-of" documentary RECords that look at how the magic is made here. We have a small number of such RECords floating around, and more could be specially commissioned for Show and Tell. This segment would highlight the magic of our HitRECord collaborative creativity process in action. The personal stories of how some great RECords come to be.

All in all, even this incomplete Show and Tell is already amazing effort. Bravo Gwen, Topher and Serenity. I am really looking forward not only to the completed Episode 1, but to future episodes.
