I followed you home

in my old black car

that always stalls

in the wrong places

I chased your taillights

had to run a few red lights

but I finally caught up

just in time to watch you park

You had not changed at all

except for your address

and your telephone number

and that girl who welcomed you home

I guess that's when I decided

to drive away

on the wrong side of the road

I kind of liked

those blinding lights

the car horns blaring

the useless stop signs

It was the same kind of chaos

you left me in

when you said goodbye

I can see now

that nothing can be salvaged

from the ruins of my life

crap metal

crushed bones

broken glass

now I'm finally

going home
