RE: Editing Live Events
Dr. Gory Released Apr 11, 2012

VIDEO EDITORS- You guys are rocking the Fall Formal footage! Really great turnaround of some quality edits are already popping up all over the site.  Each cut is a great foundation for creating various short films. Super exciting!

I just wanted to take the opportunity to highlight some of the work coming out of RegularJOE's request regarding Fall Formal Live Edits.

Simple points to remember moving forward as these edits grow:

  • Try not to include any dead visual space - make sure that all camera movements, zooms and shakiness add to edit and don't distract the viewer.

  • If your cutting to a music track - edit to the beat

  • If you cutting to a dialouge or monolouge - edit to the speech

  • please resource other edits that you have included in your cut and or has influenced your edit. That way everyone can be credited :)

ALSO - I have created a collaboration for us to contribue all Fall Formal Live Edits. So please contribute your work and albums so we can it'll all be in one place!

Keep up the good work everyone!

I take your notes to my brain, and will take them to my fingers in future cuts.
I do really want to do something for that song with sia as a real music video, wondering if in any Music editors could edit a great cut of that song, i don't know if i really trust myself to do it, to get out joe's talking and the crowd n all that.
