Rupert McReady walked at a determined pace down the sidewalk that lead him ever onward to the SaveMart grocery with nothing in his pockets but a dream of Cindy Clark. Cindy was the vegetable and fruit specialist for all the SaveMarts in the region. She didn't always work at the location in Rupert's neighborhood, but he was feeling lucky today. Yes, he was feeling lucky. Oh, boy, was he. Rupert walked through the automated double glass doors with sweaty palms and armpits. He hoped briefly that Cindy's sense of smell wasn't too keen. As he made his way into the produce aisle, a familiar song started to play over the store's speakers. Can't live, if living is without yoooou- There she was; Cindy, next to the organic yams. Can't liiiiiive, can't give anymooooore- Rupert drifted toward her, his heart beating faster with every bin of apples and artichokes passed. Truthfully, he'd never even spoken to her before, but he was 99.8 percent sure that their's would be the kind of love that was written about in legends, erotica by Anais Nin and his journal. Oh, Cindy! Oh! He was now standing next to her, staring straight into her perfect little shell shaped ear. Sensing a presence, Cindy turned ninety degrees to the right and was now looking at him... into his eyes, into his soul. "Can I help you with anything, sir?" Rupert said nothing. He grabbed a yam and stuffed it into his mouth. The End. |
