She had plenty of reasons to be unhappy.  First, his so called "band" wouldn't play at their wedding.  Second, her stepfather refused to foot the bill for the reception.  It wasn't her fault her husband had such a big family -- who knew all 322 cousins would RSVP yes?  It was bad enough she was starting out her married life with a bun in the oven and him with few prospects for gainful employment; getting stuck with the bill was the last straw.  The only thing that made her happy was remembering how awful her stepsisters looked in their bridesmaid dresses.

   "Ah, well, at least there's the insurance money," she thought as she sprinkled the arsenic on his carrot pancakes.
