Having fun with something I learned in Biology class.

--------

Once upon a time, there were two lovers named Monophil and Erythrocyte. Monophil had a larger circumference, and Erythrocyte looked as if she were blushing all the time. They both loved each other very much. They had been living in their peaceful kingdom ruled by Queen Heart and King Brain.

One day, a whole army of Pathogens broke into their land. They outnumbered the military of Brain's kingdom, and so they recruited more soldiers. Monophil being a man, had to leave his lover in order to save their kingdom.

"I'll be back soon, Erythro," Monophil promised as he kissed her forehead.

Erythrocyte nodded without looking at her lover.

Monophil left reluctantly.

There was already a battle going on between the Pathogens and the Cells. With no time to waste, Monophil quickly joined his fellow mates and transformed into a Macrophage to devour the Pathogens.

As the Macrophages ate the Pathogens, they held out their enemy's mark with pride. Some Pathogens were deliberately absorbed by regular civilians in order to hide, but the civilians held out the mark of the Pathogens to let others know that he was infected. When this happened, one of the Cell soldiers would have to reluctantly destroy the infected civilian.

The battle went on, and Monophil (in the form of a Macrophage) ate many of the enemies. The number of the Pathogen army was rapidly decreasing, and the Macrophages could almost see victory in the horizon.

Number of Pathogens were down to ten. CHOMP! Nine. CHOMP! Eight. CHOMP! Seven. CHOMP! Six. CHOMP! Five. CHOMP! Four! CHOMP! Three! Another CHOMP! Two! And the last one...! CHOMP!

Hurray! The Pathogens were defeated to the very last soldier!

The Cells rejoiced and the Macrophages returned to their original forms.

Monophil, with a few minor injuries, returned home to see his beloved blushing cell.

He opened the door.

"Erythrocyte! I'm back!"

A few moments later, the red blood cell stepped out of the room.

"Monophil... I'm so sorry...," she sobbed.

Monophil just stared at her. He could not move. Perhaps he thought that he was dreaming.

"I'm so sorry... He just broke in and... and...," she cried, her words seperated by irregular rhythms of sniffles.

Monophil gradually began to regain his senses again. He looked over his lover once again, seeing the all too familiar marks of the Pathogen.

Erythrocyte took a deep breath. "Kill me, Monophil. Please. Kill me now so we can save our kingdom."

"No!" Monophil suddenly exploded. "Erythro, stop saying such absurd things. We can find another way. It can work. It's going to be all right. Stop talking. It's fine. We can work it out. You're going to be fine."

Erythrocyte shook her head vigorously. "No, Monophil! Can't you see? I will destroy our whole kingdom if you don't kill me now. I am infected! You have to kill me!"

"No--"

"Yes, Monophil!"

"No, Eryth--"

"KILL ME!"

When Monophil awoke, Erythrocyte was nowhere to be seen and he felt fuller than before.
