Timekeeper

I have danced with
madness and the
fish of hope
swims through
my veins
tracing copper
origins onto
skeletal piecemeal
unencumbered
free
and altogether
strange

I have stuck
my foot through
the window
and thumped
violet curses into
the palms of
my hands
then kissed you
with my fingers

There’s a silver clock
in my wrist now
and an ache in
the joints
but I just keep
winding
and rewinding

Springing forward,
falling back.
Looking forward,
and falling
back.
