A Walk in the Dark
On a walk in the dark,
I found myself lost,
Not sure where I was,
Or what I might find.
No moonlight to guide me,
The stars have gone out,
Covered in blackness,
And clouded by doubt.
As I stumbled along
Hoping not to stray
A voice whispered in the darkness,
"Please come this way"
I quivered in fear,
Sensing coldness as I walked,
Something was amiss,
I felt like I was being stalked.
My courage at hand
Started to fault,
Fear and madness,
Had began their assault.
Footsteps behind me
Deep, silent breaths
I started to run
And didn't look back.
With my heart in my throat,
And my mind lost behind me,
My footsteps were padded,
By the cold and the grimy
