Jokkmokk, Sweden - June 2011
Indigenous Terra Madre & Slow Food Conference.
Myself & about 60 Indigenous friends and colleagues at a midnight sun campfire.
--maybe you're wondering why I'm resourcing cameron's "and a new earth" and the "re: independence" collab.. fair question.
"and a new earth" because, i initially dug out all this footage when Cameron requested face videos. lol.. i realise the quality isn't all that awesome as i used a dodgy little camera but i thought the International aspect would offer a huge variety of faces and thought that might be helpful. i'm not sure if he's still going in this direction, but no matter.. it'll be here on site for whatever anyone might need it for :)
then... "re: independence" well... the resulting video isn't exactly what i had intended when i started this. but the conference we were attending is heavily based upon the need and desire to strengthen food sovereignty which falls right into place with political independence. we spent days and nights upon days and nights discussing traditional methods of farming, fishing, hunting, etc.. and how to maintain our cultural practices in a world run by seed corporations and greedy government powers.... but anyway, it can become a really heavy political discussion, and i'm not intending to start dialog.. the main point I want to make is that although these trials that we (delegates at these conventions/conferences) are facing are at its core about independence, that independence is not limited to one singular person. As we are a huge group fighting for independence, such as USA's founding fathers' once did the same. Yeah.. lol. I should've thought this through before typing it out.. oh well, too bad.
if all else fails, at least it's here for... anyone to use for whatever they want :)
goodnight -inky xx
