HR's 1st Costumed Period Drama?

I'm sorry. I had been on set for nearly 3 days straight when I wrote that! I had just woken up from my daily 4 hours of sleep. AND - There is a chunk of the text missing, which I decided to just send Lawrie directly since it was about something we meant to get back to. We had talked briefly a few weeks ago (was it that long??) about the possibility of making hitRECord's first Period Costumed short film from this RECord: http://www.hitrecord.org/records/51231
Because I have all the supplies and patterns for the costumes sitting in my studio storage, I thought it would be really cool to take that physical resource of mine (see my site: www.SarahJennyDesigns.com ) and use it to show the world that an online production company can do ANYTHING a traditional production company could do. Including producing that RECord.
(It's Jack the Ripper as a FEMALE - a neglected Victorian wife whose husband spurns her for prostitutes and she goes mad from loneliness and seeks out the women who have stolen the love that she was never given and kills them for making her into a monster. Which is a duality because she is only a monster for killing them. Violence would be stylized/minimized of course. It's more about women in Victorian England in and around Whitechapel and how the laws of society force them into horrific emotional states in which they break the laws of society from sheer desperation. But the woman is never suspected because society assumed it was a man. Even when she is found bloody over a body, no one suspects her and she simply walks away as everyone shouts to look for a murderous man. It's quite a complex role, emotionally, given the way Victorian women were meant to show no anger and speak when spoken to. Swallow your anger and sit in silence long enough and anyone will go mad. So why didn't anyone EVER investigate a woman for the Jack the Ripper murders??? Perhaps if they had they would not still remain unsolved.)

So Period Costumed films are always expensive to produce and usually considered impossible for an Independant Production Company - like hitRECord - so traditionalists would think we would not be able to pull it off. But between my costumes and Lawrie in Scotland and everyone on hitRECord - there IS a way. If all of you WANT to.

I've already spent the money for the supplies, I don't need to be paid to finish making them. I just need 3 actresses and an actor to commit so I can fit the costumes and I'd love to do it for hitRECord because I believe we can do anything we set our minds to here. And Lawrie liked the idea of filming the Gothic settings in Scotland. Though to be clear Lawrie and I haven't commited to anything, nor even resumed our discussion because we both got so busy.

And the chunk where I told him to let me know when he wanted to talk got cut out of that post. So I just sent it directly so he'd know I was letting him set a timeframe for getting back to that subject.
But since the topic is up for discussion here now, I want to say that this will only be amazing if we all work together. So if you like this idea please heart it and tell everyone else to check it out as well. That way when Lawrie and I get back around to discussing whether or not to do it or how, etc., then at least we'd have some idea if people are interested.

Because Lawrie is brilliant at what he does and I am well respected for my work but the lifeforce of any hitRECord piece is generated by the community pulling together to make something amazing. So basically Lawrie and I can like the idea all we want but if others don't want to get involved then it's not truly a hitRECord project and I might as well make it locally or just let the stuff continue to sit around collecting dust. But I want to do this with hitRECord!

I've been around since V.1 of hitRECord because I LOVE what this place can do. Watching it evolve over the years has been amazing. And it's a place I have been coming to play creatively without the pressures of my professional creative work and nothing else compares with what hitRECord has to offer the worldwide creative community.

So it would be my HONOR to offer hitRECord the physical resource to bring a Period Costumed drama to the screen just to show the world how powerful a community of artists can be - that WE can match ANY studio if we so choose. Because our collective creative will can take on any amount of money a Hollywood Studio can throw at a production.

So I guess since Lawrie and I haven't talked yet, anyone reading this, I'd love to know if you are interested.

So I apologize. The short and dress have nothing to do with MMM. Except that it's related to a possible step off from the methods used to make MMM, but adding in some more physical elements from me and whatever brilliant idea Lawrie might have for blending the old structures of Scotland and really, visually, I trust him completely so I'd pretty much hand over the costumes to whomever would be playing the roles and watch what hitRECord makes of it.

But of course, I can't just ask for that to snowball the way I'd like it to. We all have to decide together. But as I said, Lawrie and I have yet to resume that conversation. But if you guys like the idea, tell us so we know!!!

But I haven't been very active online lately because I started production - as Costume Supervisor - on an Indie Feature in offline life. THEN in addition I was asked by a director to create a 100-150 foot long gown that is rigged up with about 5 different physical effects and then is going to be enhanced further in post. The two jobs together at the same are a bit much. But I simply could not refuse the short as it's my favorite kind of work - the the Teapot Tophat I'll be making Major Thom when he's back from Bali - clothes that stretch the limit of their definition. And it's my first time as a Costume Department Supervisor on a feature length film, where I have to keep track of all the administrative factors.
So Lawrie and I had agreed to discuss the possibility of making this story since I have had the supplies and the patterns for the period costumes in my studio for 3 years now - so hitRECord could make this for no money upfront -but the chunk of text that's missing there was me telling him I've been so busy with the feature and the short with the dress but I'm still around whenever he has a bit of time for us to talk about whether or not to make that costume drama and I wasn't avoiding or ignoring the topic, I just wanted to let him decide when he had time to think about the possibility because he has a lot crammed into his head right now.

So I don't know what of what I wrote is actually showing up because I looked at the RECord a couple times and it showed different chunks of text missing. Sorry for the confusion!
