Hours in photoshop: Would rather not know Number of espressos: Approaching triple digits Dress sense while drawing: Hipster scrooge      It's pretty regular in the comics (and film) industry to start with a script and work towards a visual realisation of that script. However, sometimes it's interesting to work backwards. I was wondering what it would be like to start with the image and work toward the story.     With that in mind, I drew this, leaving the story pretty open. It's be awesome if any of the more writerly of hitrecord would be interested in penning a (pretty short) science fiction story to go along with this illustration. If not, as always, do whatever you please with it. Enjoy! SnickerSnack

Thank you SnickerSnack, glad you like it! I pulled a lot of the story from the small details I could see in your awesome drawing. I can write what I think happens next or you could draw another scene and I could write the action that connects the two drawings. Right now I'm pondering where I would go/do if I didn't know anything about the city I'm in. I'd stay low and watch things around me to learn a pattern. I'd think Seventeen would do the same till something catches her eye and gives her an idea of what to do next.

    Thanks, mcwally.
Nice work with the opening. As I said, I deliberately don't know the story behind the image.
Who is #17? Why was she locked up? What does the symbol on the back of her hand mean? Who is chasing her, and why?

I felt hitrecord would be a fun place to experiment with this form of collaborate narrative.

Maybe it could be a case of someone writing the first paragraph, then someone else writing the second, someone new for the third and so on.

brilliant piece of work here..always worth the effort when you see results like this..how about a start here with story..
As the alarms sounded out through the halls and corridors she knew that there were only seconds before they found her.
She had been the first of many to try to escape from the cells underground and now she was almost free from the nightmares..she still had the wall to get over...

@12.42: Cheers, and yeah, you're right. There's definitely some of Hanna in there.

@DoubleNegative: Yeah, that could work. As I said, if you feel you can spin a short story around it, go ahead.

@Everyone else: Thanks! The hearts are all much appreciated.

Ummm try having it be someone who accidently travelled to the future caused a death (idk how) and then was imprisoned... a riot at the jail happened and she escaped...... theres its just an outline but I like leaving it open for your own ideas to flourish
