Hey - I'm Carlos, although I've never really gotten used to being called that. I joined hitrecord near the end of November last year, just before V4 of the site came to life. I was desperate for an artistic outlet - I'd been writing for papers and contests and what have you for a while, and played in a band for a couple years, but pretty much left all that when I dropped out of college to help my parents get through some tough times. Times just kinda kept getting tougher, then, y'know?
I think I came here after seeing Joe on a late night show, and was a bit intimidated at first, to be honest - everyone seemed so cool and personal with each other, and I was just some weirdo over in my corner. Then Kampaign did this neat cartoon using one of the first things I wrote on here, and I got mentioned in one of the earlier Regularity videos... and it felt good. My first involvement in a collaborative artwork was so fulfilling, that even though I'd barely done anything, I felt happier for that one little thing than anything I'd been doing since I left school.
So right now I'm pushing a bunch of things - I'm working on getting another band together with a few people I've coerced into joining hitrecord (KarizzMarie and Jayski, expect more from them), I'm scoring/co-writing a short film with a friend of mine (who I will soon trick onto the site as well, mwaha), and secretly finding ways to scrounge up money. Y'see, before my academic career fizzled out, I was accepted to Columbia University, and it was kind of a big deal for me. Since then, their financial aid programs have grown rather substantially - if I can put together enough cash to set my folks straight for a bit, I can get back to school and try for round two, hard as it most likely will be.
Until then, this place is going to keep me mentally and spiritually afloat. So thanks in advance.
