Well, late again. Work, life & my el crappio health are not cooperating! Foo. This reREC is more for posterity's sake, so that I can try to remember where the tip of my reREC iceberg went! Gah. I just realized that I've hit the heart almost 6,000 times, during the time I've been here. Whoa, horse! O_o I have some rare time off very soon, and I'm just about dying to see what kind of hideous mischief I can get into, using Ye Crappy Olde Movie Maker. So-- I think I might need to challenge myself by committing to REmix my 6000th RECommend, in whatever capacity that I am able to, whatever it is. Hooray! Aaand this week's reRECs include:
Audio 1. Watch Out Now Little Girl by Babbish. I love the lyrics & Babbish's vocals on this. It's a bit bare, and could benefit from some more music layers/mixing/etc. 2. Voice Like Wine by littleindian. This just melts me. I like to relax to it, but rest assured I'd be very happy if anyone wanted to edit video together to make it another kind of story! 3. sleepwalker by tonguecutsparrow. tcs might be taking a break, but his music remains! For some reason, a story of "Christmas Disturbed" has been sneaking into my head (damn NaNoWriMo for making my brain juicy, anyway!), and this is the part where Santa gets stuck in a chimney, just as the fire is beginning to scorch his cookies. Not a kiddie bedtime story, I'm afraid. 4. Ninjazz by SRL73. Not just your ordinary smooth jazz. I can almost hear Barry White... and Jackie Chan. 5. 62 & moremix (remix of metaphorests track) by Albert. I like writing to 62 on loop. Maybe someone else will, too :) The more I listen to the moremix, the more I'd love to see some visuals for it. It's smart, with a great beat-- and with Sarah's vocals, it's just waiting for a little bit of something :) 6. City of Lost Ambitions by ThePlanetPluto. A song of desolation, water & fire. Yet again, I was thinking of sad Valentine's Day music & broken hearts-- despite the fact that I am very rarely unhappy on that day. Hmmm. 7. Snow Flight... by Bryan Drewyor. Cold earth & water, with some whirling air. Beautiful interpretation on piano. Again, this is just waiting for visuals, a voiceover, etc. If I painted, I would be painting all manner of reds & blues...
Video 1. lava_tornado (2011) vs Asta Nielsen (1910) by alpal. I got a good kick out of this, as the beat & her dancing were pretty "Whoo whoo!" together. I've never seen the film, and now I want to! alpal dug up a really great video REsource, here. 2. cosmic significance [remixed] by tori. This was a wonderful idea for a REmix. I love the idea of stars and light. This isn't done, yet :) 3. Patterns & Prayers- Halloween by Dr. Gory. Maybe it's just me & my head, but I thought this was a startlingly fine (and somewhat underappreciated) performance by Joe, that I hope can be incorporated into something down the line. OK, fine. So I full-on admit that I'd love to hear a live (or pseudo-live-- [what, a little bit dead?], if wirrow wasn't available) performance of wirrow's version of "Patterns & Prayers," with Joe preaching. It's a very powerful song for me, and I'd simply love to see it performed that way. Somedaaaay over the rainbowww... 4. Let me know what you want shot by filmpunk. It is as the man says it is. For those who are new(er), take a look at some of filmpunk's older stuff. You will want him to film you shaving your beard. No, really. You will. filmpunk has an editor's eye for movement & texture, and odd washes of color & light. Let's think of something to challenge him with :)
Text 1. The Snow Queen by PonderGoblin. My least favorite weather of the season is nigh approaching, and this short piece makes me feel like I ought to like it--- that I'm misunderstanding it, somehow. After all, how can I not love a comparison of bees to snowflakes? :)
Image 1. Urth ~ Colour by Gwy. Ahhh. My new screen saver. It's beautiful.
Collab(s) 1. Legion/Legion Collaboration by Edward Shallow. 2. Nightsfall Collab by Day Glo. Both collabs have opportunities for just about anyone to make a contribution, notwithstanding lack of equipment (or in my case, absolutely no vocal talent, argh! lol).
from The Featured 1. CosmicSnow Trapeze by PonderGoblin. Squeak! Who knew we'd get so lucky? We don't get many interpretations such as this, all around. Shot & performed beautifully, this is a work of art on its own. 2. Falling by 12.42. The heck I'm going to give up on patching together music/video! Luminous & heady, this REmix of "CosmicSnow Trapeze" & "cosmic significance [remixed] makes me think of stars, love, loss and being reborn.
So that's not it, but that's it for me... I will work on gathering more text & image, for next week! Cheers & Happy RECording!
