Limbless - Poem
Inspired by cantbeyou's great, disturbing drawing. A little darker than my usual fare!
Limbless
I have lost my legs and arms
Unnecessary accessories
That put me in harm’s way
And now I sway, unbalanced
Numb, lanced.
I am just a lump,
A sorry stump of flesh and bone
That groans for phantoms of
Futile shoots
And moot roots
I pruned the branches
So they would grow stronger
I no longer think it true
Too late,
Cruel fate
Appendages in bandages
Wounds bound
And some things only ever found
By losing
Isn’t
Life
Amusing?
Limbless
I have lost my legs and arms
Unnecessary accessories
That put me in harm’s way
And now I sway, unbalanced
Numb, lanced.
I am just a lump,
A sorry stump of flesh and bone
That groans for phantoms of
Futile shoots
And moot roots
I pruned the branches
So they would grow stronger
I no longer think it true
Too late,
Cruel fate
Appendages in bandages
Wounds bound
And some things only ever found
By losing
Isn’t
Life
Amusing?
