These are a special form of poem, in that they can easily be sung to a ballad tune.

Well known ballad tunes include O Little Town of Bethelem, Amazing Grace (both public domain), and even the Ballad of Gilligan's Island - the show's catchy (but unfortunately copyrighted) theme song.

Of course, I'm sure musically inclined hitRECorders can create some great new ballad tunes!
