You can scan them. Most scanners I've seen are only big enough to scan drawings, they're relatively cheap too, although I just use my library's. As to paintings and things on a larger scale I'm not sure, I've only taken pictures of mine, usually with the flash off. I'm sure there are bigger scanners but I'm not sure how you would get your hands on one.
