NEEDED: voiceovers, artists, animators, video editors, musicians, etc. the whole she-bang! : D i wrote this piece about love and the universe earlier this year, and i think it'd make a cool short film. there's a lot of breathtaking NASA footage and stuff, as well as space-y footage/images on hitRECord, so i thought we could use them here. here is the original text, along with my own suggestions on visuals (obviously, these are only suggestions -- feel free to use your own imagination!) -- NARRATION: it's said that in relative comparison to the lifespan of the universe, i am but a blink of just one of its many eyes. // visuals: space footage, with large eyes blinking over it NARRATION: furthermore, i've reason to believe that in the grand scale of things, i would be lucky to consider myself even the tiniest speck of a speck of dust. // visuals: zooming in to focus on tiny stars NARRATION: i suppose that in a purely physical sense, i matter, in that i AM matter. but honestly, so is the hair on my head and the dirt on the soles of my shoes. // visuals: a person, and then mundane objects that are also matter, possibly still overlaid with space footage NARRATION: so, if everything, in this sense, matters, then does nothing REALLY matter at all? // visuals: a bunch of things that are "matter" all of a sudden disappearing as the question is posed. perhaps for the question, just more space footage, possibly with a ? blinking over it or some typography. NARRATION: i think i can safely conclude that in the space-time continuum, i am meaningless. now, isn't that just devastating? // visuals: more grand space footage, person disappearing (shrinking) into nothing NARRATION: … i thought so, once. but then i realized: what is meaning, to you, but the significance you put into the things you see? // visuals: person bigger again, talking NARRATION: maybe i don't mean very much to the universe, but fuck it -- if i mean something… to you, that's all that matters… to me. // visuals: more grand scale space footage, but sudden contrast after the "fuck it": clip of a couple holding hands or something, or of another person, the narrator's lover // visuals: fade out on the hand-holding into black/starry sky |
