Joel Stein is Sexy, Mom
The Hipsters are organizing.
The revolution has begun, so prepare to have your mind blown. At the helm is creative maestro Joseph Gordon Levitt—who most of you know as the sensitive dreamboat for all hip chicks and dudes from 500 Days of Summer-- wearing shadow black shirts and 501s with a crooked smile. Gordon-Levitt swears by his darling project, HitRECord.org, where he wears many hats—and many, many shirts-- as the crinkly-eyed sage sensei of the collaborative, multi-national artspot. Thousands of art projects of grand cinematic scales or tiny arty stories encompass the frenetic, passionate works of HitRECord.org contributors as well as its creator.
Gordon-Levitt, through his inherited leftist hippie philosophy and impressive business acumen, attempts to reconcile satisfying his soft spot for tactile beautiful art, as Gordon-Levitt describes in his Aug. 30th Interview with Joel Stein of Time Magazine, with the content of a website where each RECorder, or contributor, Remixes, RECords and RECommends content for various projects on a first name basis.
Creating anything and everything with artistic fellows and gals-- including the likes of Wirrow, filmpunk, Babbish or Metaphorest—HitRECord.org proves to be the ultimate playground and whirlwind of creativity and experiment; the tinest story can fall into the mix and explode into books ready for print, the movie screen or any other polished venue.Anything, whether a story about blue dildos or sad circles or profound loss and healing can encompass the huge vision orchestrated by its champion: RegularJOE.
But don’t think RegularJOE, as he is called in this realm, lets it all go to his head, or the head of his collaborators. If anything he will regularly comment on the work of other contributotors, or RECorders, whether critical or inane as long as they are about the work of HitRECord.org. He can be silly, deep, comical, silent (See Morgan and Destiny’s Eleventeenth Date—The Zeppelin Zoo) or super-supportive and excited about projects that catch his eye. And it is not always easy to catch the cream rising to the top, especially when you’ve got a hot, hot Hollywood career like he does. But he makes it work and people are taking notice.
