CHARACTER SKETCH #5 - for "Pickle Blossoms" [1]
Author's Note: No, there were no pickle blossoms in Carroll's Wonderland. Based on his talking flowers, they represent the often manic, muddled chatter of the world. [2]
CHARACTER NAME: (The) Pickle Blossoms [3]
CHARACTER DESCRIPTION: (In the visual and cerebral senses).
The central nervous system of Wonderland, The Pickle Blossoms react to the inner goings-on of Wonderland. Capable of responding to everything--including body language, verbally and non-verbally articulated feelings, words and actions--except thought (in everyone who isn't ManHatta, that is), they provide Wonderland's more befuddled inhabitants with a moral compass. Their method? Amplification.
ManWithHatter amuses them. When he's among them, they find some peace, or at least swathes of entertainment. His histrionic temperament suits their bruised spirits; he is, in effect, their revolutionary hero--a balm to the trampled and downtrodden.
They do not like discomfort. It's wisest to tread carefully. They despise sudden, rapid change. Consider the lilies of the field: You'll find a more restful, pleasant home there. Their vicious feedback on sudden changes in the sensitive world of Wonderland has notorious repercussions. When Alice returns, they hiss and spit and call each other names, put out by the sudden reversal of water flow, bending their roots backwards.
And when ManWithHatter finally leaves them, the shrieks pierce the Queen's ears.

At any rate, I wanted to have a logical "reason" for mercury poisoning healing. La.
