CHARACTER SKETCH #3 - for TheBucketness's "the march hare" [1], in conjunction with Pickle Blossom's truly bodacious mash-up idea [2]. Author's Note: In my Wonderland, the March Hare still lives in a house shaped like the head of a hare, but it's under renovation. This has resulted in a massive identity crisis. CHARACTER NAME: He forgets, so call him [Hit Recorder username]. CHARACTER DESCRIPTION: (In the visual, cathartic and motivational senses). The March Hare had a bad March. He kept hearing voices in his house and decided to have it redone to fix the acoustics. Now he can't remember who he is. It doesn't help that the wrecking ball the Lion & Unicorn [3] construction crew use turns out to be none other than a ManWithHatter [4] that [Hit Recorder username] doesn't remember liking, or that the pair of them retreat to the pickle blossom meadow for ManWithHatter's idea of a mental health break (as pickle blossoms exude the manic chatter of the world). All [Hit Recorder username] wants to do is retreat into his mind, but he can't. Sitting in his estranged kitchen surrounded by inexplicable tea pots and cozies wasn't working. Who was he, that tea was so important to him, that ManWithHatter seems to be his only friend? He's very good at arguing, as it turns out, and seems to be able to sing, recite poetry and even dance with his powerful legs. But none of it helps jog his memory. The trip to meet and visit with the pickle blossoms is really the last straw. The rain that first upsets the capricious pickle blossoms and then returns Alice to Wonderland couldn't have come at a better time--especially since he's the only one who can't see her. But he does meet a Spanish boy who calls himself Alico [5] with something familiar about him that [Hit Recorder username] can't put his finger on. If only he could get out of the pickle blossoms and away from ManWithHatter to think! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Ok, that's a lot to throw at people all at once! Ergo, footnotes: [1] Or, as her Bucketness titled the jpg file, "harejordan" [2] Fields of talking flowers with Pickle Blossom's sweet mug in them. [Think Munchkin Land + the Teletubbies' creepy baby-in-the-sun + Meet the Press, et al. + Tourette's syndrome.] [3] The idea of a Lion & Unicorn running a construction crew's a laugh-riot. And since the Lion's emblematic of England (and the Unicorn of Scotland), clearly there's Hit Recorder mash-up potential here. Suggestion: a Lawrie Brewster-inspired Unicorn. Let's just say, if you believe in him, he might believe in you... [4] LizRECords did a great rendition, her "The Madd ManWithHatter" -- our first official Hit ReWonderlander mash-up! But I'm thinking this character needs to be updated to something more modernly appropriate. All I've got so far is that he's obsessed with something called a "Google." Thoughts? [5] Jenyffer.Maria-inspired. |

I think you would know more about that than I would. This is uncharted territory for me. Even when I wear makeup (and that always means stage makeup--Jules doesn't do Revlon) I get someone else to do it. Maybe a neutral color? Like a soft blue-gray? Or a tan? Burgundy(ish)? Or go without and make sure your hair is pulled back.
Just don't put it anywhere that would mask your expression -- nothing that would decrease lines that form when you grimace or gawk or smile. I guess make faces as you put it on to see?! Ha ha ha ha

ok cool! Thanks for the votes of confidence. I'm not really fussy about how many takes it takes. I'll just start with letting all the voices in my head come out my mouth :^) Then we can find specific needs from there.
Something I was thinking is that I could paint my face at least around the edges maybe? Not like a flower just for blending. What do you think??

You don't strike me as someone who needs much direction. I think I mostly would just get a kick out of being there :) But I can see what you're saying about needing a pattern of some sort before there's a script. Hrm...I say try it both ways. Trying to visualize what that would look like. I guess the first way would just be haphazard crazy, jumping from one emotion to the next. The second way would be growing anxiety as the hare gets more and more desperate to leave? If I'm reading you right.
Thanks for being Blossom-on-the-spot with this. We'll try and get this within as few takes as possible. I'm working on the pickle blossoms' character sketch as we speak.

Sounds good to me! And I can always record my ideas and then you direct me for additional takes/sayings/expressions. I don't get offended by critiques, so we can work til we get what you want.
But I have 2 ideas how to effect the hare and the hatter opposite: what if there's a certain manner of speaking, like re-arraging words in a sentence that the Blossoms AND the Hatter share and that makes Hatter feel like he's just like everyone else talking but Hare just cannot TAKE IT ANYMORE when there's dozens of flowers talking nonsense in disjointed sentence structure. Like maybe he tells the Hatter its annoying when Hatter does it but hearing it echoed in the flowers...
Or, the flowers could be mimics and talk just like whoever is in front of them and Hatter hears his thoughts echoed back to him and is calmed, but HARE in his crisis, hears HIS thoughts echoed back to him through dozens of voices and is driven mad by it?
I will do the first video today. I just have to take care of a little business first. Then I'll put on my cartoon head. :^)
