RE-recommendations

1. It’s melting- saint maker

This picture is so beautiful. I love how many bright colours are used, and I love how they blend together. I don’t really know what the picture actually it, I’m guessing it’s some mountains and water, but honestly, it’s so pretty to look at, you kind of get distracted from everything else. And I really like how there are so many different variations of the blues and greens.

2. Cut out and keep- mirtle

Ok, first of all, I LOVE mirtle’s style. It’s very simple and pretty, but at the same time there’s so much detail in her drawings, which I love. This picture is really nice, and I love the little caption that goes with it. I like how she’s drawn little cut out lines around the shape. And the stripy leggings/tights are awesome. All her people that she draws have very calm facial expressions, and I think all her work is lovely.

3. Revisiting Memory Lane- appletiki

I adore this picture. The fact that everything’s blue gives kind of a relaxed atmosphere. I really love how the buildings kind of melt into a river on the brick road. And the little details are really nice, like the little dog in the corner of the picture and the flowery background. Really nice- nice job!

4. My friendly skeleton- Metaphorest.

For a song about skeletons, this is surprisingly cheery. The tune and guitar are really pretty and easy to listen to, but I really love the lyrics. I love the whole concept about finding a skeleton in your room. Metaphorest is a lyrical genius. “I know one day, I‘ll be one.”- Loved that part. I don’t think I need to talk about how pretty her voice is, because we all know it. :o)

5. Metaphoresian to English Dictionary- ntheon

Speaking of Metaphorest’s lyrical genuis, this RECord ties in nicely. I think it’s absolute genuis to take the words from MMM’s date with destiny and turn it into a dictionary. And I love how he’s described the descriptions of the words, really funny. I recommend this RECord heavily. And kudos for taking practically every single word, can’t imagine how long that must have took!

6. Secret lovers illustration- critique bookworm

Ok, so I found an illustration for this exact tiny story the other day, but this one is also really really cool. I love everything about it. The way that the boy and girl are drawn is just perfect, and I love the sunset just peaking out from the top of the picture. The shadows are lovely, and I love the little love heart between them, it’s a really nice touch. It’s just a really well drawn picture, and I think it’s one of -if not the- best illustration for this tiny story.

7. Peacock (coloured)- elayne

I loved this picture, and I thought it looked nice without colour, but this is just so perfect. It’s not too bright, and it’s mainly a mixture of browns and beiges, but it’s just lovely. I love the background with the flowers and the birds, which kind of reminds me of an old, vintage wallpaper of sorts. The little hints of greens and purples are wonderful as well. Probably my favourite illustration of the week.

8. Fate and Coincidence (Revised)- Maliboo

I love this illustration. It’s really pretty and it looks kind of vintage which is really cool. I love the colour skeme and how it’s all kind of browns and greys, and I love the two characters and their postures and such. The glass in the guy’s hand and the fact that his jacket is slung over his shoulder and really nice little touches to the picture. I also love the feather sticking out of the woman’s hair- nice job!

9. The Alphabet (working title)- deeasherself.

This was a neat little idea. It must have taken deeasherself a while to find all the right words and blend them together. The story is cute, and the ending is perfect, and it’s very sophisticated considering the fact that she had a very narrow rage of words to work with.

10. Sleepyheads. Illustration- wen

This picture is so pretty. I love the little bed in the corner, and it’s really nice how it’s all in black and white and the trees are just perfect. The little people on top of the swans (swans? Geese? Swans.) are so perfect. Their hats are adorable. The moon and stars are a nice little touch. It looks like there’s a nice texture as the background as well. Nice job!
