Between Two Breaths

A script idea, heavy on special effects. This is inspired primarily by the breathtaking time lapse photography of SFBakstad, and would be in part an excuse to stitch together and make good use of much of her work, and anyone else who wants to get into timelapse.

A science experiment gone awry, leaving a Bay Area physicist thrown out of normal timespace. He begins to experience time passing at variable rates, but generally very quickly. Sometimes, hours pass in the space of seconds. Thus the working title, Between Two Breaths.

This could involve UC Berkeley and/or Stanford Linear Accellerator Center (SLAC), and the experiment could involve tachyons, hypothetical particles that travel faster than light, and are closely connected with the passage of time.

The scientist's colleagues saw him simply disappear from the lab, and are trying to figure out what happened, and then to get him back into the normal timeline. However, before they can fix it, he pops back in on his own. Everyone wants to know what happened, but he seems to be all right.

On his way home, however, he again experiences vastly accellerated passage of time, and he watches the world go by in timelapse, before popping back in again, randomly. Maybe he doesn't reappear in the same location, but randomly, elsewhere in the city. Making it difficult to even get home.

Between timelapse scenes, he and his colleagues race to find the answer to what is happening and stop it. They have reason to fear that eventually he will lose all connection with our time and find himself thousands, millions, even billions of years in the future, unable to get back.

There might be other incidents where time slows way down for him, and the world seems to stop moving for him, while he moves through at super-speed.

Just some raw ideas here, maybe someone can do something more with this.
