In the end, I am but one among none.
So I go, gaze affixed to this brand new horizon,
Feet finding purchase amongst the sands of time and ruin.

Above, feathered flocks surge toward the heavens
Foresaking this charcoal-chilled wasteland of ice and bone.
In the end their Icarus wings, a misguided source of hope.

I am but one, so I keep sense of self.
Step... breath... step... breath...
I strive, with steadfast focus ahead and beyond,
While I leave these blistering and hell-whispering winds behind.
A primal urge willing this sad survival on.

In the end, I dare not look back.
For there, a dark portend among the dust,
Lie the wavering imprints of my own obsolescence.

After, yet another, glance at Dusty's stunning REMIX, I was suddenly gripped with the need to turn her Post-Apocolyptic vision into words. I'm not sure that goal was accomplished as well as I had originally hoped, but I feel fairly pleased with the outcome none the less <333

@janetfelts - Thank you so much! I have to admit that I'm still very proud of this piece :-)

@crane_crafter - Thank you, as well! Hehe, that line's location actually jumped to various spots throughout the poem for a bit until I finally found its proper place :-D And thanks for the heads-up re: sBo's collb! Went and added it right away <3

I love this! And this line is so great: 'A primal urge willing this sad survival on'. I was trudging right along with you.

You should add it to sBo's collab, The Last Radio Station in the World: http://hitrecord.org/records/401987
