Dreaming Space
Entangled in alabaster sleep-spot snakes
Dreams a daring sailor,
Masts billowing with wind
Of whispering night nymphs.
Our Sailor, salty with stardust,
Navigates through nebulas,
Just to taste the rock-candy swirls,
Just to taste the universe.
Twinkling tears tumble
From our Savior Sailor
And ever-grateful earth-gazers,
As this Valiant Hero must head home.
But the star’s mourning never lasts,
For our Cordial Conquer
Of the jeweled pasture that is space,
Will return when light no longer lingers.
Even though our Sailor is a boy,
His ivory snakes mere sheets,
The stars embrace him each coming night,
Returning him to dreaming space.
