Text_notecard_shadow_top_left This Collaboration is to centralize conversation and progression of costumes I - with whomever would like to participate - am making for TeaFaerie and LizzieMackie, which they will then use in some kind of performance piece that they will RECord and present for the enjoyment of all! And then who knows what they'll be remixed into!
Just so you know what you're working with, my website is: www.SarahJennyDesigns.com and I have 18 years professional experience and 2 degrees. (I mention that to give you confidence in my methods, not to brag or be controlling.)
For those of you who don't know, TeaFaerie is a firespinner/flow artist and LizzieMackie is a dancer. It is their records of their talents and individual styles that have inspired me to suggest this collaboration to them. Lucky for me, they agreed to play dressup!

But this is NOT a closed collaboration. It does have a goal that involves specific members. But it's meant to be fun. Aaaand...

Part of the purpose of doing this as a collaboration on the site, instead of through emails - which is how I normally work with long distance projects - is so that any other sewers/designers out there who might like to design things for various projects on HitRECord can see some of the tricks I use for long-distance fittings and fabric selection, etc. Because I'm sure alot of you sew, but you might be hesitant to try to sew something for someone on the other side of the world. So hopefully seeing that it IS possible to custom fit, from a distance, will inspire others to use that talent for HitRECord projects as well! Because some productions do fine with jeans and a tshirt, but others might benefit from costumes that have been planned/made just for that story/setting, etc. Especially as HitRECord progresses toward more "professional" productions, it's important that we all feel like we can give ALL of our individual abilities to our projects.

But really this is just for fun right now! So we'll start with these two costumes, and see what the results inspire!

OK ladies, please press REC when you're ready to start!

Hi Erika! Thanks for coming. I plan to have the measurement diagrams up for all three costumes in this Collab later today. There's also a video about a Pro Trick for measuring that I'd love if you'd watch BEFORE you measure because since I'm fitting long distance, measurements are key to everything working out.

But I'm not sure of the timeline on the Alice project - since I'm not in charge of anything with that lol - so don't stress about getting it done right away. But I'm glad you're game to play!!

Checking in to express my interest in playing Alice! That'd be SO cool to have different Alices all over the world. So I suppose I have to record my measurements here? What specifically would you need? Thanks for letting me get in on this!

OH! I just figured out how to include your Seussian element and creativity. Gimme a minute to sketch and then I'm gonna post a "basic" idea, which fits the dragon's lines, that you can run wild with!

LOL Thom - I was just over on YOUR collab offering to make hats!!!
We can make hats for each other lol :^)

Yeah, I'd love to include your skills. Yay! A boy who crochets! I love hitRECord. :^D
That style hat might be useful in a Collaboration I've been teetering on whether or not to post. I think you just tipped me. But see, you YOU are my favorite choice for a particular part of it. K, I'll make the Collab and THEN explain it.

OH! You know what would be awesome? You are commonly in physical proximity of Tea, right? Woman will NOT measure herself! lol. For the most part that's ok. But maybe you could crochet a base - that fits on her head for sure - for the ribbons/top of dragon head. I know it's not particularly creative and it does not utilize the awesome sounding Dr. Seuss element. But it would be really helpful as the headpiece is the part I'm most concerned with fitting. Bodies I can measure by sight. But heads... baffle me.
Tho, if you want to get creative with it, just remember that there's gonna be a dragon face/horns in front so whatever you do will show from the sides or back. You can see the sketch and the colorscheme is blues and greens - well represented in Sara's fabric post - so you can play with it if you'd like. :^)
