Many just don't realize how diffi... Hard it can be to write a sonnet that Rhymes and has only ten syllables per Line, or how tremendously intricate
It can be to make complete thoughts in one Stanza and not have it bleed over to The next. I'm vexed at how perplexed people Write old fashiony, afraid of the new
Its like they think The Bard will roll over In his grave, angry that they use plain speech To deliver their message, as if time Froze in 1583 - but not me.
Just because the rules are old doesn't mean That language has to be - or not to BE.
***Not a standard sonnet. Alternating lines do not rhyme, but still this is a sonnet in that the lack of rhyming adds to the point of how difficult it can be to write a sonnet. It wasn't intentional, I just wasn't paying attention! |
