Many just don't realize how diffi...

Hard it can be to write a sonnet that

Rhymes and has only ten syllables per

Line, or how tremendously intricate

It can be to make complete thoughts in one

Stanza and not have it bleed over to

The next. I'm vexed at how perplexed people

Write old fashiony, afraid of the new

Its like they think The Bard will roll over

In his grave, angry that they use plain speech

To deliver their message, as if time

Froze in 1583 - but not me.

Just because the rules are old doesn't mean

That language has to be - or not to BE.

***Not a standard sonnet.  Alternating lines do not rhyme, but still this is a sonnet in that the lack of rhyming adds to the point of how difficult it can be to write a sonnet.  It wasn't intentional, I just wasn't paying attention!
