(I am in an iambic pentameter mood today...)
Whenever I walk to the corner store My dog insists that I take him with me Excited and wild, he acts like a child And won't stand still till I strap on the leash
I've a direct path that I like to take But inevitably, he disagrees He stops me in my tracks, pulling me back To a RECord that some other dog peed
He studys with discerning interest Sniffing and pausing to look all around He really digs in, pressing his nose deep And makes expressions; makes critical sounds
And after awhile, he thinks to move on But not before judging this strange dog's art Because in his dog's world, if he approves He'll lift up his leg and give it his heart.
(bloemday's Sonnet 27 is referenced because she got me started on the iambic pentameter kick today.)
***This is not a pure Shakespearian Styled Sonnet in that it has two extra lines (and the rhyming structure is not correct, and the meter is all wrong), but it's iambic pentameter (at least there's ten sylables in each line), so I included it in my sonnets album |
