I want to tell you a story.
A story about a terrible burden. This story occurred in that city. That corrupt, polluted place. The Anglerpod was once a valued creature. Our lights seen as a gift. Suddenly, things changed - we were declared a plague. When found, an Anglerpod was mocked. Sometimes hung from lamps. Sometimes thrown around. And then we were destroyed. Our kind had to hide, fearful for our lives. However, there was an Anglerpod who said he could change our fortunes. He promised that the people would love us. The Anglerpods emerged from hiding. One, awful night. A terrible, horrific slaughter ensued. The Anglerpod had tricked everyone, for his chance at freedom. But he was killed like all the rest. There was one survivor. The people had missed him. His son. So now I walk alone at night. Burdened with the knowledge my own father was responsible. Responsible, for my loneliness. |
