Until about a week and a half ago, I had never really spent any time experimenting with piano improv. I've written songs before, but I always went in with a plan, a chord structure, or at least an idea. Very rarely have I just sat down and starting playing, not knowing where I was going or what would happen.
I was just playing around on my piano today, when I played two notes that made me suddenly think about relationships. I thought I'd just take a chance and see what may come, so I hit RECord, and played whatever came out as I thought about the course of a relationship, from beginning to end.
That's what this piano variation is for me. It's from the first moment to the last, and all the ups and downs and events in between.
Because every beginning, middle, and end is different for every relationship, I don't want to say anything else about what I was thinking as I played. I'd rather leave it open for you all to define. :)
So that's the overexplanation of my improv piece, "Great Perhaps."

Again by heart.
