Extracting Petals

I sat today extracting petals from flowers
Mooning over your smile in my mind

I thought, how shall I introduce myself?
Verily I say – no further delays, it is me:

I am your effusive daughter
Perceiving a reason to start my screech song at all times, you see.
Arouse the weather
Rally the words
Provoke the kiss
Waken the life

I am your effusive daughter

Beholding signs everywhere,
Ever remaining ambitious not to despair in faith or life
And I know you can’t give it to me, but it doesn’t stop the asking

But, now comes this moment of truth
“I want you closer…” a whisper is all I can muster.

Timorous steps taken, for a heart afraid of breaking
Recently redeemed from love’s calamities
Sitting so long on the mantelpiece

Rent, this fortuitous heart, if you should be compelled

This rhythmical endurance ominously undecided
Pacing, pacing, pacing

And yet, I’ve got nothing to lose
whatever you choose

Binding nothing! Imprisonment; stayed!
Quiet relinquishment if I should be asked to yield.

So now, am I made ass, or empress?

“Hello, I do like your smile.”

Alas, forgive me,
“I am your effusive daughter, how do you do?”
