My first re-RECommends
I've been around for just over a month, and I'm beginning to see the wisdom of the RE-RECommends. I've got over 1700 RECommends, apparently, so there's no way I'm going through them all to put my favorites here, sadly. I may or may not do this regularly, or again. We'll see.
For now, these spring to mind (in no particular order):
1. Merry-go-round (IrmaVep) - that's just an awesome and fun picture.
2. A tiny story about Steve being trampled by a dinosaur (RichieMillennium) - my favorite tiny story ever. I love that the story barely adds anything more than the title. Makes me laugh every time! And I like the illustration for it by susurro, so it's here too.
3. Pieces (yet another remix) (patcampo) - this is my favorite version of riana6's beautiful and haunting song. The song itself is so amazing, though, that any version will do. I can't get it out of my head sometimes!
4. Teenage Hopes (xobreexo23) - xobreexo23's photography is all so amazing, it's hard to pick one. This one is quite fun.
5. Dan Snow Fire Timelapse (Dr. Gory) - just saw this today and it is stunning. I like the slow motion so we can really see Dan's artistry.
6. HitRECord Academy (filmpunk) - I'm only finding the icon for now but that'll put you through to the collab. I think this is a brilliant idea. This site is all about sharing and generosity, and this knowledge and resource sharing collab is a prime example of that.
7. Depression and our Lives (Reality Blonde) - another great collab, this one geared toward real-world ACTIVISM! Yay!
8. One Day I Was Lost (mostly_harmless) - a really successful joining of a stunning oil painting "Body Shock" by gblancag and a tiny story by arit ("When I was lost").
9. burning dan 1974-2010 (teafaerie) - Even if you had no idea who this was a picture of, it would be the sort of beautiful and moving portrait you would hang in an art gallery.
10. Nothing Big (RegularJOE) - Of course everybody loves this. No need to put it here, EXCEPT to say that I really think the original, voice & guitar only version is perfect as is. Yes, perfect. What part of "Nothing more, thanks, that'll do" do you not understand? ;-) (No offense to everyone who's played with it, that's just my 2 cents...)
OK, I'm going to stop at 10 even though this is the first time I've done this and I really could be excused going on to a mere 1% of the RECords I've recommended, but this sort of thing takes forEVER on my ancient computer. I'm woefully missing poems and longer-than-tiny stories, and could really add more music—hmm... maybe I'll do this again.
