We no longer accept the word NO. We no longer implicitly agree to be relegated to the task of being observers. ART has always been for the people, and of the people. Throughout the history of time; It’s movement has been instrumental in evolving the face of humanity. Through the many facets of art – it has shown us what is possible. It has predicted change, and have forecasted doom. & Fast forward to now 2010- Internet Age. Art again is making a movent. But this time we will not read about it in our history books. We will not see it depicted in paintings; or hear it sung about in our iPods. This time, we will be present at the birth of its creation, because we are the ones who will make it happen.
Hitrecord.org is a community of people gathered from all over the world with the single mission, and that is to hitRECord.
What is a RECord?
A RECord is a method of repetition.
A technique to play it again by heart

REpetition & deviation
tradition & REbellion.
How does a record work?
Simple. You can sing a record. You can act a record. You can paint a record. You can recite a record. You can photograph a record. Anything that feels like art to you is a record?
How does a record become?
Once you have arranged your art into a tangible format you just simply hit the REC button. & Once the REC button emerges from its great depth; it carries with it your newly born record.

We, as a community of hitRECorders are not concerned with ownership. We embrace the idea of collaborative art. Creation is an active/interactive process. It implies an exchange between the giver(s) and receiver(s). It’s a dialogue that engages both sides. It is pointless to use labels, and measure whose participation surpasses whose. After all, one will not exist without the other, and at certain times we play both. Here at hitRECord we like to give credit to everyone. We call them Resources.

See something that you like? See something that inspires you? Hit the heart. The heart is at the center of all matters. The heart pumps the blood. The heart pulsates. It dictates rhythm. The heart connects through primal resonance. Want to see a record come to life?

REmix
This is the highest form of honor that one can receive. Through the act of remixing, we bring new life to each other’s creation. We perpetuate the possibilities. We make steps toward progress. Now and then, a record can remain dormant for a long time, or appear unnoticed; until a hitrecorder comes along and resuscitates that record. Here at hitRECord, each and every contribution matters. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Collaboration
Strength comes in numbers. What one person can do is made easier with the aid of another. But what of many? hundreds? thousands? from around the world. Each one carrying their ammunition of: notebooks, guitars, photoshop, spoken words, songs, ideas. The act of collaboration unites us. It allows us to make great things possible that otherwise; we would’ve never have been able to accomplish by ourselves.
HitRECord in itself is an art form. It’s an eponymous medium of art/media that combines different kinds of creative expressions from various resources and transforms them into a consolidated form that is authored by all its contributors.
HitRECording in itself is an act that requires innovation and courage. It implores the understanding, and trust from all its participants. It invites you to take a leap that will take you into a journey that might start anywhere; from the Sahara Desert, all the way to the Milky Way & back in 60 seconds. Some hitRECorders can literally make this possible! So, what have you been doing lately?

I’m note sure if this is what you guys had in mind, but here’s what I came up with. This is raw and needs to be condensed. But I wanted to release it in its original form because it contains bits and pieces of my ideas scattered everywhere. I started out writing, sorta like a mock manifesto. But I figured that I needed to elaborate on certain concepts since anybody who doesn’t know about hitRECord, might just wonder what the heck I was talking about.
Feel free to revise, reconstruct, edit, etc. A lot of this is taken from the amazing conversations we had on the old V3 forum. Some sections here are direct references from records that have been put out. Such as the “ How does a record work?” paragraph. ItsPauline who’s not here yet, did a demonstration of this on her Sundance Invitation record. But she’s not here yet, so I can’t cite her record as a resource. The paragraph beneath the title, “The What is a record?” is purely Joe’s words.
