Neptune Wakes

Day is breaking,
And Neptune is laying down his
Twisting, burning spheres,
His crown and drink;
His trident is sheathed
In the heart of the moon.
Sea-foam surrounding his skin
As he sinks beneath his waters-

Saturn takes off her rings in honor
As he passes;
Mercury mars his face with grimaces
Massless;
Uranus can not cry for coughing on
His own cool gasses.

The Sun welcomes Neptune home
As Neptune lays down
His burning, squirming, blistering spheres,
Not that he might sleep,
But wake
While we wind across the sky.
