the god of fire has left the earth
to soar once more amidst the heavens
the oneness from whence he came

prometheus did come to earth
for only a short while
to bring us mortals his gifts

he brought us each
his cleansing fire
his healing touch
and the love within his breast

he gave mankind
his sacred gifts
now we here are left

with this duty in his name
to keep alight his flame
sacred teachings us he brang

so pass ye his eternal flame
from staff to poi
and back again
to every child of earth

working healing magic
he washed away our fears
cast our nagging doubts away
into the light of celestial flame

his task is done
with grace and flare
and so he now returns once more
to natural spirit state
one with the Universe
from whence he sprang

your earthly mission finally done
with flare and grace to spare
the time has come
at last dear friend
to raise yourself a bowl
at last to savor
