BURNING dAN brightly embodied that bold beastly bliss sometimes referred to as "the creative spirit." He was my chief collaborator on the foundational incarnations of hitRECord.org over the years and continues to inspire us ever the more. He would absolutely positively insist that we not let this bad news deter us on our collective mission. That said, I might not feel up to it for a little while.

Watching this community blossom into what it has become never ceased to amaze him and me. We would regularly marvel at it and high five. Thank you all for that. There he is now pouring heaping hollowed watermelons full of love over each and every one of us.

Let's celebrate him, he's fucking awesome:

See you real soon,
thanks again...

I never met BurningDan, however his knowledge touched me through the people he knew. I am a member of the fire community, and his tricks and methods have trickled down to me. I am sad that I never had the pleasure of meeting him. Joe, thank you for continuing his combined vision. :)

    Hi Joe,
From my brief time on hitrecord.com, I have gotten little glimpses of what a truly, special person your brother really was. I hate saying things like "I am sorry", because that is not enough. That's not the right phrase ... I do not know if there is one. By profession, I am an Oncology Registered Nurse. So you might think I would have better words but there are none to describe your loss. "Sorry for your loss" just does not seem to sum up the magnitude of what you have been going through and how my heart goes out to you and your family. Both, you and your family are in my prayers.

Hey Joe! (do u remember that song of Jimmi Hendrix? :) U should know, that my friend told me about this venture. But I was very sceptic, I dont know why... But after a few days of observations I see, what U and all hitrecord-people create together (!) This is like a big art-organism, art is everywhere and inside of everyone. That venture proove it. I'm really honour to be here... And one more something... I choosed THAT record to put these words here, because I see also a soul pain here, which is a base for creation thousands of art-works... I'm telling about Ur Brother, of course... I know this pain. Thats why I am so proud, that U can do with these emotions such beautiful things... Take care and good luck!

The world will never be the same... Our deepest sympathies and condolences go out to you and your family. Dan was a mighty inspiration, a radiant light... just simply amazing. My husband and I will never forget meeting him at Sundance almost a year ago. He was so kind, so warm, so loving. Memories of Burning Dan will always make us smile and he will always be a great example of living life to the fullest with a happy heart and gusto! Thank you, Dan. You will forever be in our hearts. Our thoughts and prayers and positive vibes are with you and your family.
