cchellez's (re)RECommendations - Week 001
The countdown begins to Fall Formal... where are we at? 35 Days to Go?
So let's get busy!
This week I focused on pulling together music and readings, pieces that really deserve some attention even if there are no visuals.
1. Catharsis + The Laggard by Braun22 - I just discovered Catharsis this week, but I already have the desire to see this transpire into something more. The beginning is very spacial, and I think would work for the remixes of SFBakstad's 4 Nights of Stargazing with some additional sky time lapse footage. I know there's already a collab going with the hitRECorchestra from SitC, but this would be another animal all on it's own.
2. In the rain by akillerwombat - Probably one of the most relaxing records I've heard in awhile and it begs to get used. I love how it starts with just rain, the music fades in and the rain fades out. All I can think about when I hear it are two people on a front porch, watching the rain in very laid back clothing and then as the rain fades and the music begins, they head out into a field, barefeet and all to explore while the world is fresh from a new "shower."
3. Hopelessly in Love by KatieR90 - I'm a sucker for romance and this song is cute and catchy. It would be fun to make a collaboration about first loves or finding the love of your life, combining pictures and video to make a video for this whole song. Something sweet, innocent and upbeat. :)
4. Nobody (reading) by tommacarte - Really really surprised this has not made it into a RE:Cities remix yet. Granted I know that collaboration is huge, but I think it would fit just right somewhere in the video that was shown at SitC.
5. Shooting the Messenger by Zounds - This needs a time lapse video and text ASAP. Just to restate what I left in remarks:
"I would love to see a time-lapse video with this read over it. Perhaps instead of a progressive movement through time and space such as wirrow's video, have time and movement regress into something with an impacting ending. The two combined, or played one after another would compliment each other beautifully."
I still think this holds true. If we can get the two placed together before Fall Formal, I think it would be an awesome conversation between both entities.
I think that about does it. Hopefully this springboards some great new records to recommend!
